Six benefit areas grounded in the research
Eyevistar® works through carotenoid delivery, optical filtration, antioxidant defense and reduced phototoxic waste — a multimodal profile for eye-health formulations.
What Eyevistar® supports in the eye
Macular pigment support
Lutein and zeaxanthin are selectively deposited in the macula, where they form macular pigment. In the in-vivo study, Eyevistar® raised macular lutein from 15.5 to 68.1 ng/mL at 10 mg/kg and restored detectable macular zeaxanthin.
Blue-light filtration
Macular pigment acts as an internal optical filter, reducing the amount of high-energy blue light that reaches photoreceptors and the retinal pigment epithelium.
Retinal antioxidant defense
Eyevistar® restored total antioxidant capacity along with superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase activity, supporting the retina's own defenses against reactive oxygen species.
Protection from light-induced stress
After UV-A exposure, ARPE-19 cell viability fell to 50.98%. Pretreatment with Eyevistar® restored viability to 81.19% at 250 µg/mL and 100.64% at 500 µg/mL.
Reduced phototoxic waste
A2E accumulation fell from 35.24% in UV-exposed cells to 11.02% at 500 µg/mL, with electron microscopy confirming fewer lipofuscin granules.
Healthy visual aging
Lower VEGF, HSP60 and ARMS2 alongside preserved retinal architecture in a diet-induced stress model point to support for long-term retinal integrity.
Formulation territories
- Screen and digital-device eye comfort formulations
- Healthy visual aging and macular support supplements
- Sports and performance vision products
- Antioxidant and healthy-aging multivitamin blends
- Beauty-from-within ranges extending into eye health
- Senior nutrition and daily wellness formats
Because Eyevistar® supplies both primary macular carotenoids in a single standardized marigold-derived ingredient, formulators can cover macular pigment and antioxidant positioning without combining multiple raw materials.
How these benefits are supported
Each benefit area above maps to a specific preclinical result — in ARPE-19 human retinal pigment epithelial cells or in a 42-day high-fat-diet-induced animal model using oral doses of 2.5, 5 and 10 mg/kg.
